The most popular Filipino-American National Basketball Association (NBA) player Jordan Clarkson is ruled out of the upcoming 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Manila. Clarkson is still confident about the Gilas Pilipinas national team’s performance and believes his presence is sufficient to motivate the team. The news came up via a Tweet from none other than Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) President Manny V. Pangilinan.
Clarkson, attended Nike news conference on Saturday followed by the team’s light drills in the closed-door practise section at Bonifacio Global City. Head coach Tab Baldwin announced that the Fil-Am combo guard is not participating in the match as he is now a restricted NBA free agent, however his graceful presence in the event itself would motivate the team.
“Whenever Jordan shows up it helps our morale because we know his passion is, his desire to play for the Philippines,” he said. “It makes us feel good. He’s happy doing it.”
Clarkson, 23 would still stay in LA regardless of being a free agent to support his team. Also he is expecting to represent Philippines in international basketball after getting a green signal from FIBA. His commitments towards Gilas is unquestionable, as he attended national team during their practice for William Jones Cup and even came down to Taiwan to boost up the energy in the match. His dedication for Gilas Pilipinas is visible even on social media when tweet for his team.
He has built his reputation of being a hard worker and also strives to improve his performance accuracy from three-point land. Beyond doubts the news is disappointing for his fans!
