Air Force aims to sweep Pocari Sweat

The damp and dreary week felt long, but here comes the most awaited finals between the unshaken Air Force Lady Jet Spikers and the dangerous Pocari Sweat Lady Warrior in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference starting today at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Philippines team Jet Spikers has already swallowed Pocari Sweat once in Game 1 17-25, 25-20, 15-25, 26-24, 15-11 victory last Wednesday in the fourth set breakdown and now it eyes on the title sweep. Game 2 best-of-three series is set to start on 6.00 PM today.

Air Force bidding for their first ever championship title after a great comeback from two-year-break wants to follow the trend set by their male counterparts of winning Spikers’ Turf championship Trophy by sweeping Cignal in their own best-of-three series. Championship Trophy in hands Spikers’ Turf looked surprising to many people as experts predicted Cignal to win the series.

As realized Basketball isn’t a game of predicting, it is a game of team who creates magical moments. The pressure is high on both teams, however Air Force Coach Jasper Jimenez is confident about his girls are high on spirit and can display fighting spirit in the ground.

“We showed fighting spirit and we will need it again in Game Two,” said Air Force coach Jaspet Jimenez in Filipino.

Pocari Sweat on other hand, believes their squad has stronger shot at the title. Pocari star Gumabao said –
“We work well in do-or-die games and we’re going to prove that,”

Fans can expect an explosive battle between the sheer offense and hard defense when the veterans hit the stadium today. Air Force can mostly rely on the deadly trio of May Ann Pantino, Joy Cases and Jocemer Tapic who are well capable to perplex the opposite team. While, Pocari Sweat combines Michele Gumabao, Elaine Kasilag and Myla Pablo will lead the team.
