Coach Abella shows confidence about Pocari Sweat

Pocari Sweat interim Coach Rommel Abella wants his team to gear up hard when dealing with top seeded Air Force for the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference crown beginning on Wednesday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Lady Warriors already suffered their first loss in the best of 3 semi-finals series against Bali Pure and now facing another unshaken team Air Force during best of 3 finals series that swallowed Laoag Power Smasher in semi-final. Both teams are top seeded and nothing more we can expect than a great bout.
However, Coach Abella is claiming the underdog status in the best of three final title series, she said –
“Considering Air Force beat us in our first meeting,” said Abella referring to their 25-20, 17-25, 22-25, 15-25 defeat to the Jet Spikers in the elimination round.

He believes starting slow is their trademark and they always come back ravishing. Abella is also confident about Pocari Sweat’s performance that will raise the level of their game.

“We really played poorly against them the last time we played so we have to receive well and serve better,” Abella added.

Michele Gumabao already said that they can perform under pressure which proves the positive team trait. Apart from Gumabao, the team can rely on Myla Pablo who exploded 26 points, 22 coming from attack in the game against BaliPure. Myla Pablo gets constant support from her teammates especially from Gumabao and Kasilag, that’s why she wants to counter it by giving her best against Jet Spikers.

No.1 Air Force on other hand also crossed the best-of-three semi-finals and reached Finals for the first time. The team best finished so far was fourth in the year 2014. The team has massive experience and dealing with veteran’s Judy Caballejo, May Ann Pantino and Joy Cases would not be easy for Lady Warrior.
On Wednesday battle for 3rd place will start at 4 PM between BaliPure and Laoag followed by the finals opener at 6.30 PM.
