Henton scores 29 to lead Aces beat Ginebra

Alaska Aces crushed Barangay Ginebra, 109-110, in OTin the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.

Small forward Ladontae Henton came out as mascot for Aces who scored high in the game, 29 points and nine rebounds despite being out of game for five minutes in the 4th quarter for a blatant foul penalty 1. His massive efforts to clutch 3-pointer with just 3 minutes left in overtime was blessing to Alaska, unleashing 13-4 run in overtime brought home victory for Aces.

It was a night of extra time, just after the encounter between Star and Globalport, Aces and Ginebra extended the time. Chris Banchero notched 19 points and 5 steals, while RJ Jazul added 14 markers and 4 triples for Aces which moved towards their first win of the season.

“I thought Ginebra showed great resolve and poise and we were really kind of in control early but they just kept coming,” he added.

In the fourth quarter, Aces led by seven points, 79-72, but Sol Mercado solely took forward the game to 84-all. Justin Brownlee led Ginebra with 31 points and 13 boards in 29 minutes. Sol Mercado added 22 points off the bench and LA Tenorio gave off 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assist.
