Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao returning to the ring is now confirmed by Bob Arum when he announced that Pacquiao is searching for opponent for a comeback fight and is also working to take some break from his Senate duties.
Top Rank CEO and Pacquiao’s promoter Arum said that the fighter is working with Senate President Franklin Drilon to pull out some time for training purpose.
“He is going to fight. I don’t know what the date is. He is working with the President of the Philippine Senate for an appropriate date where he can leave the Philippines for two or three weeks to prepare for a fight”
Fans were disappointed with Pacquiao’s retiring decision so that he can focus on his political career. He last entered the boxing ring in April against Timothy Bradley and won over a unanimous decision. Now that he is planning to return, Adrien Broner was the first choice as Pacquiao’s opponent. Broner believes his fighting style is more like Floyd Mayweather Jr, which could create some tense moments for Pacquiao. However, Broner is asking for some crazy money which Arum and Al Haymon can’t just afford.
Bob has reserved October 15th at Mandalay Bay Events Center for Pacquiao’s return, however the veteran boxer needs proper training in Philippines before he fly for the fight.
During May, Pacquiao had won the senator election and promised to be more available for the lawmaker in the Senate. Previously he had also faced criticism for his unavailability as a congressman during two terms representing Sarangani province. Hope he does not miss is duties for this comeback fight!
