Tongco scores 22 as San Beda beats Emilio Aguinaldo

The San Beda Red Lions outlasted Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 91-76, through the magnificent performance of Ranbill Tongco on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Tongco scored a game-high of 22 points for the Red Lions while their top player Sara Roldan Sara didn’t play because of finger injury. Ranbill’s penetrations and outside shooting made him difficult to guard. Moreover, Amiel Soberano added 21 points to provide the complimentary attacks for the Red Lions.

San Beda had a 40-34 lead at half time through the tandem of Tongco and Soberano as they started the game strong until the Generals were subdued in the second half. Tongco and Soberano also were hot in the third quarter as they combined for 18 points as they distanced the game, 71-53, after the quarter.

Hamadou Laminou scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Generals, who have a 1-2 record.

Jomari Presbitero had eight points while Robert Bolick added eight points, four rebounds and six assists for San Beda.

The Red Lions won their third straight win and still undefeated.
