TNT KaTropa extends their winning streaks to five by smashing out Blackwater Elite, 109-89 on Saturday, August 13 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, and banged a record of the only unbeaten team 5-0 in the 2016 PBA Governors Cup.
Mychal Ammons who entered the team as a replacement for Mario Little proved himself good for the team. Ammons dropped 18 points and 18 rebounds for TNT, while Troy Rosario smashed 16 points and 13 boards. Meanwhile, Asian import Michael Madanly helped the team with 15-points and 4 rebounds.
Ranidel De Ocampo scored team best score of 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and a block getting sufficient backing from Ryan Reyes and Jayson Castro who could not play the entire game but smashed 7 points and 5 assist in second half.
Head Coach Jong Uichico said Little is injured and is currently in Manila under the list of Injured/Reserved.
“We were rusty at the start, we were trying to feel out Mychal,” “We weren’t able to really play scrimmage games with Mychal and he was trying to feel us out also. And then our shots went in,” he added as Blackwater took a 43-40 lead at the half.
Elite who started big could not survive after losing the maven JP Erram in the second half due to an apparent knee injury and Eric Dawson in last few minutes. Reil Cervantes scored game-high 22 points, but Blackwater continues it struggle to remain in PBA as 1-4 win-loss record.
Dawson fired 13 points and 10 rebounds before he left in the fourth quarter due to back spasms, also Imad Qahwash Asian import could only shot 8 points for Elite.
With this Win TNT moves to the top of leaderboard with prefect 5-0 record, and also this is a record against Blackwater that could not beat TNT since joining as an expansion team in last PBA.
