The Denver Broncos will take on the visiting Carolina Panthers to open the NFL 2016 regular season on Thursday night, kick off time at 8:30 PM ET, at Sports Authority Field.
As the defending Super Bowl champion, Denver will try to repeat but without ace quarterback Peyton Manning and even Brock Osweiler. The Broncos will parade Trevor Siemian as their starting quarterback after beating Mark Sanchez, who is now in Dallas, and Paxton Lynch in the preseason competition.
The Broncos continue to have the defensive package through Super Bowl MVP Von Miller, Aqib Talib and DeMarcus Ware. While the offense may be unpredictable, the Broncos defense will always be the key in winning games. In receiving, Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders will be the primary targets of Siemian. CJ Anderson will anchor the running game and he will always be dominant again.
The Carolina Panthers are looking to avenge themselves after they were lambasted in the Super Bowl 50 by the Broncos. With Cam Newton as the anchor of the offense, the Panthers are expected to return to the playoffs. Newton posted over 3,800 yards and 35 touchdowns last season. Newton can also run the ball effectively to make the opposing teams in defending the Panthers. Tedd Ginn Jr. will be the primary target but the addition of Kelvin Benjamin who is coming back from injury will solidify the offense of the Panthers.
