CEU whips Flying V to have a Game 3

Centro Escolar University defeated Flying V, 93-72, to force a Game 3 in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup semifinals on Tuesday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Rod Ebondo posted 18 points, 26 rebounds and three assists to lead CEU into another game. Moreover, Art Aquino made his presence felt by having 18 points and seven rebounds, while Christian Urad added 15 points and four rebounds.

The CEU Scorpions pulled of a 19-0 spurt in the first quarter, turning a 14-12 disadvantage into a 31-14 lead. CEU’s defense proved to be the key when they extended the lead 58-35 at halftime.

“We didn’t focus much of our defense on Teng, but rather, our team defense. We followed our gameplan on defense and that made things easy on us on offense,” said coach Yong Garcia.

Meanwhile, Flying V’s MVP contender Jeron Teng scored only 13 points and grabbed three rebounds as he played with a sprained ankle in the first half. He was fouled out in the fourth quarter. Eric Salamat, Aris Dionisio and Gab Banal each score 11 points in a losing cause.
