Eddie Guerrero passed away in November 2005, but his legacy still lives on 15 years later. Shaul Guerrero, Eddie’s daughter was interviewed by Wrestling Inc and revealed that her family has no right to her father’s name and image. Here are the most outstanding statements.
I’ll be very honest, I was so excluded and insensitive that after my father passed away I didn’t see anything from WWE. It’s still painful to watch for multiple reasons. It was difficult for me to be the girl whose famous father died. school, I was just trying to deal with my own suffering.
Over the years I understood that we have to be very careful with how we use people’s names. Dad fought using his real name Eddie Guerrero and WWE, to this day, has the rights to his name and image. Even if we wanted to do something, we couldn’t, we have nothing to say.
So if you are a young fighter and you are going to sign a contract with a company, make sure you have the rights to your own name. It’s great advice, and any attorney will recommend the same. Make sure you have all the rights to your character or your image.
