Frank Williams, the founder of the Williams Formula One team, has left the hospital and is now at home, having been admitted ten days ago.
The cause of the admission was not revealed by his family, who requested respect for the privacy of the one who until a few years ago was the director of the motorsports team. In a family statement last week, the 78-year-old man was said to have been admitted in stable condition for a private medical matter.
“We are delighted to announce that Sir Frank has left the hospital and is home,” the team said in a statement.
He Added
“The Williams family would like to thank everyone for the support shown during this difficult time and wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,“
Frank founded the team in 1977 and entered Formula One in 1978, becoming one of the most important teams in motorsport history.
It was a few months ago when Frank and his daughter Claire announced that the Williams family was leaving the team, ending four decades of the union in the ‘great circus’.
The Williams founder has been in a wheelchair since he was paralyzed in a car accident in France in 1986. He also spent some time in the hospital with pneumonia in 2016.
