Dark Matter is a science fiction drama series that follows the crew of a deserted spacecraft that wakes up without any recollection of who they are or how they got on board. Still, to survive a threatening journey charged with revenge, deception, and plenty of secrets, they must work together.
The survivors are struggling to stay alive and locate the rest of their crew after the EOS 7 space station is destroyed.
The cast of Dark Matter
Those on the spacecraft are the main characters of ‘Black Matter.’ They are only remembered by the numbers, in the order in which they woke up. So we have Marc Bendavid as One/Jace Corso/Derrick Moss, Melissa O’Neil as Two/Rebecca/Portia Lin, Anthony Lemke as Three/Marcus Boone/Titch, Alex Mallari Jr. as Four/Ryo Tetsuda/Ryo Ishida, Five/Das/Emily Kilburn as Jodelle Ferland and Six/Griffin Jones/Lt. as Roger Cross.
From KalVarrick. The Android appears to be Zoie Palmer of ‘Lost Girl’ and ‘Pure’ fame. In general, our key cast members fall under trustworthy character stereotypes that we’ve seen before in science fiction.
Thus, One is the moral compass, Two is the diplomatic boss, Three is the happy member of the sarcastic trigger, Four has a lethal attitude, Five has the gift of visions or curses, while Six is the group’s loyal member. The Android is like a zippier and improved version of the Google Assistant we use, not to mention more helpful, and helps the group navigate their ship in various dangerous situations.
Is Dark Matter coming back?
No, unfortunately, Dark Matter is not coming back for the next season. As much as it was loved by the fans it ends here. Although the Dark Matter TV series’ numbers had declined halfway through its third season, the show still performed well enough for the network. When Syfy dropped the ball on Dark Matter in late 2017, work had already begun on the fourth season.
Joseph Mallozzi, the producer of the series, would later go on his blog to take down the reasons why Dark Matter was canceled. When other Syfy programs with lower ratings were renewed, audiences could not understand why the series was canceled, but Mallozzi would explain that the situation was more difficult than that.
It boils back to the fact that the Dark Matter series was an investment, affecting their ability to monetize it, not really a Syfy original.
