Lucifer Season 6: Release Date, Cast, Plot And Click To Know More

Lucifer is currently on fire. Back in the summer, the initial part of the fifth season went right to the very top of Netflix’s charts, with the platform announcing it had scored that the “largest TV series opening weekend .” Critics and fans have been happy, everybody is anticipating the next half of the season and filming the sixth and last series has already begun. Not bad for a series that has been abruptly cancelled by Fox three decades in.

By now, we’ve got a fairly decent idea of the outline of the remaining episodes and they sound like a humdinger. We have already met Lucifer’s twin brother Michael (played with Tom Ellis) and God himself (Dennis Haysbert), and if there are deities of this stature walking around, the story possibilities seem endless.

But don’t expect the series to undergo another resurrection. In an interview about the Kings of Con: The Podcast,” Ellis said that he is done playing Lucifer after season, explaining:

“Six seasons of this series is a true achievement. It’s been a massive emotional journey and that I don’t think I want to perform anymore. I know I don’t want to do any more. Mainly because I wanna know that we’re ending and because I’ve had such a fantastic time. I believe that it’s only fitting that we now have a proper ending to the series.”

Given how good the actor is at the role, this is understandable but disappointing. Nonetheless, the future is bright for the rest of the show and beyond that, we’ll see a fresh new Lucifer on Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman. Ellis’ personality is adapted from Gaiman’s take, too, so if fans are going through withdrawal symptoms, they should be able to stave off them with that series.

Right now, we do not have a launch date for Season 5 Part 2, but it should territory early in 2021 as filming is full and post-production work is well underway. Season 6 could end up split the same way, also, so maybe look to September 2021 to get 6A.
