Meghan Markle and Prince Harry started the year with the decision to part ways with their role as senior members of British royalty, but that doesn’t mean 2020 has been a quiet year for the couple. On the contrary, it was only the beginning to build their path as independent activists.

Now the Duchess of Sussex and her husband continue to pile charity projects on their schedule. The last of them will be with the World Central Kitchen organization , a non-profit group that is responsible for providing food to the neediest communities around the world.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced this new collaboration through their own foundation, Archewell, based in the United States, their current place of residence. Regarding the actions they will carry out, it was explained through a statement: ‘ The Duke and Duchess of Sussex support a series of community aid centers for World Central Kitchen. The structures will be permanent, built to act as quick-activation service kitchens during emergencies such as natural disasters, with the ability to transition to community centers, schools and clinics. ‘

World Central Kitchen is an organization founded by the Spanish chef José Andrés in 2010. Its work consists of providing food to affected communities in the United States and other parts of the world such as Latin America. In fact, some of its most important projects have been carried out in Puerto Rico , after the devastating consequences of Hurricane María in 2017.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will also support Latin American populations with this new agreement. The first of the four centers they will build will be based on the island of Dominica , which was severely affected by Hurricanes Maria and Irma in 2017; on the other hand, the second space will be built in Puerto Rico. Of the other two centers, the location has not yet been confirmed.

The photograph of the return to London of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is iconic. It was taken by Samir Hussein, who told Vogue the story of how he managed to get it.
For now, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continue in Los Angeles with their multiple projects: from a new podcast for Spotify, to a brilliant contract with Netflix to be content producers. Coupled with their charitable agenda, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are more than clear about their goal of becoming one of the most important marriages of the decade that began this year ( royals or not).
