Parthiv Patel Announces Retirement From All Formats Of Cricket

Indian team wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. Parthiv, 35, who made his Test debut against England in 2002, played 25 Tests, 38 ODIs, and two T20 Internationals for India. Talking about domestic cricket, he played 194 first-class, 193 List A, and 204 T20.

For India, Parthiv scored 934 runs in 25 Tests with the help of 6 half-centuries, while in ODIs he scored 736 with four half-centuries and 36 in T20 Internationals. Parthiv Patel made his debut at just 17 years and 153 days and became the youngest wicketkeeper to do so.

Parthiv Patel announced his retirement through a post on Twitter. He thanked the BCCI for replying on a 17-year-old youngster, putting an end to his 18-year cricket career. Apart from this, he also thanked the Gujarat Cricket Association, all its captains, especially Sourav Ganguly, all IPL franchises, all his fans, and family.

In first-class cricket, Parthiv Patel scored 11240 runs with 27 centuries and 62 half-centuries and was one of the leading batsmen of Gujarat. In List A, he scored 5172 runs with the help of 3 centuries and 35 half-centuries and 4300 runs with 23 half-centuries in T20.

As a wicketkeeper, Parthiv made 72 for India in Tests, 39 in ODIs, and one in T20 Internationals. In first-class cricket, his name was more than 500 victims, while in List A, he hunted more than 200. Apart from this, he made Gujarat the Ranji Trophy champion for the first time in 2016-17.

Parthiv Patel played his last Test for India in 2018 against South Africa in Johannesburg. He played his last ODI in 2012 and the last T20 international in 2011.
