Almost three decades after its premiere, The Great Game of the Goose will return to television, this time produced by Endemol Shine Boomgod, with an updated version made from Mexico.

According to Variety magazine, next February the company will hold its first production presentation, known in English as up-front, and the legendary contest will be one of its main bets.

The Great Game of the Goose is one of the most beloved contests of all time among Spanish-speaking viewers around the world and we are delighted to bring it back with some exciting new twists, said Alvaro Godoy, development director of programs the company.

Created by Jocelyn Hattab under the name Il Grande Gioco Dell’Oca, The Great Game of the Goose became an instant hit after its premiere on Antena 3, where it aired between 1993 and 1994. Emilio Aragon, Lydia Bosch, and Patricia Perez presented the first season of the format, which had a total of 39 programs.

The second season, broadcast in 1995, featured Pepe Navarro, Eugenia Santana, and Yvonne Reyes as conductors and a new set. But its 26 installments failed to maintain the results of the first, so Antena 3 canceled the program.

Years later, in 1998, Telecinco gave the format another opportunity, renaming it El Nuevo Juego de la Oca. The presenters were Andres Caparros, Elsa Anka, and Paloma Marin, but the contest only remained on the air for eight programs.

Inspired by the popular board game, The Great Game of the Goose was characterized by its fun tests and physical challenges, which participants had to face to advance through the huge 63-square board until they reached the end.

In addition to this nostalgic return, Endemol Shine Boomdog announced the realization of a biographical series on the Mexican writer and activist Antonieta Rivas Mercado, a new production with Kate del Castillo ( The Queen of the South ) through her Cholawood label and a project led by comic actress Mara Escalante.
