The new Renault SUV is ready to make its great debut in society. It is the new Renault Kiger, a vehicle that emanates directly from the successful Kwid and is called upon to play a leading role in emerging markets. In addition to confirming its presentation date, the brand has offered a small but interesting preview.
Everything is ready to live the great coming-out in the society of the Renault Kiger. The Renault SUV family in India will welcome an exciting new member. A model that is called upon to play a leading role in this emerging market. Even more so if we take into account the product offensive being carried out by other brands with which Renault competes.
The presentation date of the new Kiger is just around the corner. The world debut will take place on January 28, 2021, a date that we must mark on our calendars since this model will mark the most immediate future of Renault in India. A market where the French manufacturer has been doing things well thanks, in large part, to Renault Kwid.
RENAULT KIGER, A NEW SUV FOR EMERGING MARKETS
In addition to confirming when its debut will take place, Renault has also unveiled a brief but interesting teaser that offers a preview of what this new model will be like. However, and in this aspect, the aesthetic, there will be no big surprises, since the production vehicle was recently advanced through the Renault Kiger Show-Car. Moreover, the company itself assured that 80% of the design will be transferred to the model that will reach dealers.
As can be seen in the teaser that accompanies this article, the new Kiger will bring with it characteristic optical groups divided in which LED technology is the main protagonist. Nor can we ignore the shape of the plastic fenders that protect the lower part of the bumper and the roof bars that are glimpsed quite clearly. The Renault insignia will occupy much of the grid, receiving much of the attention.
The development of the new Kiger has been possible thanks to the enormous success of Kwid. However, we must not lose sight of the Renault Triber since the different spy photos that have seen the light come to confirm that it will share many components with that model. Especially when it comes to the interior. It will be supported by the CMF-A platform, the same architecture used by Kwid and Triber. Serial production will take place in Indian territory. More specifically, in facilities located in Oragadam.
Concerning the mechanical section, everything will revolve around gasoline. The access version will be marked by a 1.0-liter, 72 hp naturally aspirated engine. A step above, the more powerful alternative, there will be a 1.0-liter turbo engine with 95 hp. Both will be associated with a five-speed manual gearbox and Renault is expected to also offer an automatic transmission as an option. There will only be front-wheel-drive versions.
